Longtermer #2, Vol 26: (47th month): Honda Civic FD2 2.0IVTEC

In this blog entry, I'm updating my family's ride.  It's the Honda Civic FD2 2.0 IVTEC.  This is the 47th month we owned the Civic.

Over the past 3 months, the car's sent for 65,000km scheduled  service back in March 22b.  Nothing more than oil change and washer drain plug.  Price RM179 only using Mineral Oil.

Also, from 20 March onwards, my sister took over the Bumblebee (MYVI 1.5SE Auto) officially since she sold her Silver MYVI 1.3SXi (picture below).
The old has GONE (picture above)...  The NEW Bumblebee (Picture below) has come...

As a result, my dad's back at his best, Driving the Civic HARD and piling up the mileage.

So far he drove to Ipoh, Kampar, multiple trip to Genting Highlands, LCCT and other unknown destinations.  Mileage today's AT LEAST 5500km more from Last update on 29 Feb.

Without further ado, let's proceed to LOG BOOK:

Test drive+Close up: Peugeot 508 THP

In this blog entry, I'm posting a Test drive and close up of Peugeot 508 THP (Turbo High Pressure).  The test drive route's a short 5km drive only, thanks to NASIM TTDI (more on that later).
This is a LARGE D-segment car with 2817mm wheelbase, 4792mm length and 2068mm width.  The sheer size, is as large as a BMW 5 series.  In Malaysia, this baby's yours at RM169,888 OTR for private registration with 5 years unlimited mileage warranty by NASIM.

But this is a feature loaded car with 7" HD Colour screen World in Peugeot JBL Hifi-sound system with USB and Bluetooth and 10 speakers coupled with 10 channel 500w Surround sound amplifier.

Controlled by Peugeot's "I-drive"  control knob in centre console (picture below).

In addition, it also came with Colour HUD (Head up display) - picture above, Quad zone auto air cond, steering wheel with audio, cruise control and paddle shifters, Dynamic Bi-xenon headlamps with DRL, Intelligent keyless entry with push start button, Driver and front passanger 8 way elec seat with elec lumbar support, Leather seats, and steering wheel.

It's powered by 1.6 THP (Twin scroll Turbo high pressure) with Direct petrol injection DOHC 16v VVT.  It generates 156bhp@6000rpm and 240Nm of torque at 1400rpm mated with 6 speed tiptronic with Paddle shift and sports mode.  Performance wise, claimed Max speed 220km/h (ECU limited) and 0-100km/h in 9.2 secs.  This's achieved with Great combined FC of 7.1l/100km (Fuel tank 72 litres).
Safety wise, it came with 5 star EURO NCAP Safety rating with 6 airbags, 4 discs brakes, front ventilated with ABS+EBD+BA+ASR+DSC+ESP, 2 ISOFIX Child anchor mount.

How's to the test drive:

Thanks to the Great suspension (front MacPherson struts with helical springs and dampers + anti roll bar and Rear Multi-arm with helical sprogs and multi-valve dampers) and steering (Electro-hydraulic Power steering), the car rides, handles and steers well.  It glides over bumps and corner like rails.  Like the Sales exec said, "THIS IS A TAME LION" compared to similar engine 308 Turbo.

Since it's a TAME LION, the Power delivery is smooth and linear (But not underpowered), whisper quiet ride thanks to the great sound insulation and great aerodynamics of 0.26Cd.  There's only 1 weak link, the turning circle's a HUGE 11.9m.

That's all I can comment as it's a short 5km return test drive (ie. too short).  Thanks to Jerry Yow for showing me around and Hussain Bin Hassan for accompanying me to test drive the car.

Well, there's a saying a picture's worth 1000 words, here are the photos:

IN a nutshell, this is a credible alternative to Accord 2.4, Teana 2.5, New Camry 2.5 and NEW VW Passat 1.8.  This car's A CLASS ABOVE the Koreans namely Kia Optima K5 and Hyundai Sonata.  If you are shopping for a D-segment car, do consider this car or at least TEST DRIVE this baby before you decide to splurge your hard earned money.

That's all folks, thanks for having the time and patience to read this blog entry.  An Original Jeff Lim's (Otoreview's) production.  Not to be copied.  If you want to buy this car, call this HIGHLY RECOMMENDED patience, sincere and Professional Sales Executive: Mr. Jerry Yow, 012-331-6039.  yow178@gmail.com.  DO mention that You're recommended by Jeff Lim for better deals.
