DAY to NIGHT ROAD TEST: Hyundai Sonata YF 2.4 Premium

In this blog entry, I'm writing about my Road test Experience of Hyundai Sonata YF FL 2.4

Premium.   The CBU-from-Korea Sonata YF's powered by i4 2359cc Twin-cam 16v THETA II Dual-CVVT generating 178ps@6000rpm horsepower and 228Nm@4000rpm torque.  The Engine's Co-developed with Mitsubishi and it's paired with Hyundai's OWN 6 speed Automatic gearbox with Paddle shift.

The 2.4 comes with larger 18" Alloy rims and 225/45R18 tyres (photo below) Versus 17" Alloy with 215/55R17 in 2.0 variants.

 Extra features of 2.4 Sonata Premium over Sonata 2.0 Nu D-CVVT other than the Rims and Tyres.

- Xenon HID and LED DRL (Day Running Lights)

- Front Passenger side Power driver seats (Driver only on 2.0)

- Dual Full Auto air-cond with Ionizer (Manual Air-cond on 2.0)

- Paddle shifters control

- 6 Intelligent Airbags (vs 2 airbags on 2.0)

- STANDARD 7" Touch Screen Navi+DVD+Bluetooth+Ipod with Reverse Camera.

(RM3,500 option on 2.0).

DRIVE TIME:

The Sonata 2.4 Premium Auto have OUTSTANDING Sound proofing with Magic carpet Comfort and silky smooth JUST RIGHT Handling.   Just right means Neither Hard Nor soft Handling.  It's beyond words.  Thanks to Upgraded Suspension called ASD (Amplitude Selective Dampers).  It's also very SOLID with Bigger car feel (think Hyundai Genesis).   The 6 speed Automatic Gearbox's super smooth and gear-changing often goes unnoticed.  Paddle shifter's LARGE, ergonmic and comfortable to shift.

FUEL CONSUMPTION (Hyundai Sonata YF 2.4 FC) wise, Mixed driving shows 9.3l/100km.  Ie. 55 litres of Full tank good for 500km. 

Power wise it's NOT G-force Powerful due to the NA (Naturally Aspirated) nature but it's Linear and smooth delivery.  It goes from 0-100km/h in 9.5 seconds only (tested by me) and top Speed 215km/h as tested by a Local Car Magazine.  It's More than adequate to move this 1.5 tonne car.  From tollbooth standstill to End of the road at NKVE Damansara toll towards Subang, it'll reach 130km/h.  Does it tell you the Power Delivery of this car?
