i10 update: Goodbye Dunlop J5, Hello CEAT Ecodrive

After 41 months and 40,250km, I finally bid farewell to my trusty old Dunlop SP Sport J5.  1 of the tyre punctured 3 months back (1 screwdriver), the patched up hole too big...  Slowly losing air to the point I pump tyre pressure every other day.  I bought these tyres back in 29 December 2016.  Mileage back then was 46495km, mileage upon tyre change 86475km. 

Below are the Dunlop SP Sport J5 tyres wear condition after 41 months or 40250km.

After a call to my Friend.  I was referred to Owen Hew of San Xing Auto Centre.  

He recommended me a CBU Made in India but UK spec tyres.

Mileage upon installing tyres: 46,475km (30/12/2016)

Mileage upon changing at 11 May 2020: 86745km 

Total Mileage covered: 40,250km.

Mileage covered per month: 1133km. 

Average fuel per month: 125 litres

Fuel Consumption:

BEST: 436km / 29.272l / 14.9km/l  (90% Highway/ 10% city, Melaka day trip). Petron RON95

WORST: 170km / 24.04l /  7.06km/l.  (90% City, 1 hour KL Jam)  Petronas RON95

Average: 9.1km/l. Mixed driving.

Top speed: 170km/h.  0-100km/h: 12.2 secs.

  

Dunlop Formula D05 review Vol.3

In this blog entry, I'm writing a report after using the Dunlop Formula D05 for 6 months.  This Dunlop Formula D05 is the latest thread (flower in Manglish term) design freshly launched early March.  The threadwear is 340, Temperature A, Traction A, Made in Malaysia.  I got fresh tyres Manufactured week 1015.

SIX months have passed since I bought the tyres.  I am very happy with the tyres.  It's ALL ROUNDER all Weather tyres.  I took the Waja to a long distance trip on 5 September 2015.  It's From PJ to Seremban town overnight, then proceeded to Shorea Resort at Berembun, Dusun, Negri Sembilan using part NKVE part trunk roads.

The tyres took the challenge, gave me a comfortable ride over all terrains.  I'm also happy with the low tyre noise, it's very quiet in most terrains compared to my previous tyres Pirelli P6.

Also, it went through recent floods in Setia Alam with no aquaplaning, it stayed planted on the road.

Mileage today:

Mileage covered: 4,364km only.

FUEL CONSUMPTION Last 60 days:

BEST: 9.85km/l

WORST: 7.8km/l

Average: 9km/l.  

An improvement compared to last update:

BEST: 9.35km/l

WORST: 5.93km/l

Average: 7.6km/l.

Note the difference.  Besides the tyres, I just serviced the car with Semi-synthetic, changed new Air filter, NGK Spark plugs, 4x BOSCH brake pads.

My rating so far: 8.5/10.  I shall review this tyres again in 3 months time...  See you in 28 December 2015.

Tyre Review: Vol 1: Roadstone Nexen Nfera SU4

In  this blog entry, I'm reviewing my newly purchased tyres for my Company car.  Hyundai i10.  The tyre size 165/60R14's rare and few brands to choose from...  Why I state Volume 1?

Cause I shall update my user experience with this Roadstone N'fera SU4 every 3 months.  Watch this space.  Initial impression's Good.  tyre noise's much lower than Goodyear NCT5, handling's excellent (dry and wet)  and much more comfortable ride.  Miles better than the Goodyear NCT5.

After reading this review from UK (tyrereviews.co.uk),

 and Hyundai i10 Club member recommendations, I decided to go for Roadstone N'fera SU4. 165/60HR14. RM138 /piece only incl. GST. At top hill auto, Setia Alam. Korean tyres but ‪#‎madeinchina‬

Thread wear 320, temperature A, traction A. 3614.  Averaged 94% rating in UK!   Highest in its class.

Three months have passed since I bought the tyres.  I am very happy with the tyres.  It's ALL ROUNDER all Weather tyres.  I took the Waja a long distance trips.  It's Kalumpung Training centre using trunk roads.  The tyres took the challenge, gave me a comfortable ride over all terrains.  I'm also happy with the low tyre noise, it's very quiet in most terrains compared to my previous tyres Pirelli P6.

Also, it went through recent floods in Shah Alam with no aquaplaning, it stayed planted on the road.

FUEL CONSUMPTION SO FAR:

BEST: 9.35km/l
WORST: 5.93km/l
Average: 7.6km/l.  

(Note, my lower than usual Fuel Consumption is nothing to do with this tyres.  Rather, it's the Engine oil.  FC deteriorates after Castrol Magnatec Oil Semi-synthetic change.  Previously using Liqui Moly MOS/2 10W/40 Semi Syn.  Previous best 11.8km/l, Worst: 7.6km/l, Previous Average 9.35km/l.

Note to self, Going back to Liqui Moly MOS/2 10W/40 very soon.)

My rating so far: 8.5/10.  Not enough mileage to warrant an accurate write up.  I shall review this tyres again in 3 months time...  See you in 28 September 2015.

Dunlop Formula D 05 REVIEW - Vol.1

In this blog entry, I'm reviewing The Recently launched Dunlop Formula D05 tyres.  

 I bought 4 of these tyres fitted to my daily ride, Proton Waja 4G18.  Bought it last Friday for RM145 x4 = RM580. Total Damage is RM580 + 26.5 (Alignment) + 25 (Camber) = RM631.50.

This is RM300 cheaper than my original plan.  Originally planning to get Michelin XM2 for RM220 per tyres.  Sharp eyed readers might realized "Vol.1".  Yes, I'm going to update this user review every 3 months.
