International Engine of the Year 2015 Award - BMW i8 Powertrain wins

BMW i8 Powertrain wins the International Engine of the Year 2015 Award.

The sophisticated plug-in hybrid powertrain of the BMW i8 sports car has been rated the top engine in this year’s International Engine of the Year Awards, the official award of British publication Engine Technology International. The i8’s powertrain consists of a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that’s mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and drives the rear wheels, plus a single electric motor that drives the front wheels. Together they produce a peak output of 362 horsepower, enough to accelerate the i8 from 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds, yet when required to the car can return upwards of 76 mpg.

BMW Mini SHOWCASE 1 Utama New Wing

In this blog entry, I'm blogging about the NEW Mini MEGA SHOWCASE at 1 Utama. Tomorrow is the Last day. Do check them out at NEW WING LG Floor 1 Utama where they showcase ALL of their MINI RANGE, free Coffee, "MINI ADRENALINE" and lastly Mini Merchandise for sale.

I didn't know until today that a Mini Cooper (with puny120hp and 160Nm torque) costs RM199,000, Mini Cabriolet (same engine as Mini Cooper) costs RM250,000, Mini Cooper S and Mini Cooper S Coupe both with 184hp@5500rpm/ 260Nm@1600-5000rpm costs RM250,000 (The Price of BMW F30 320d) and lastly Mini Countryman (same hp and torque as Mini Cooper S) costs A WHOOPING RM286,000 (The price of BMW F30 328i and BMW X1).  All the above price were EXCLUDING INSURANCE which costs about RM5,000 more.

Other than the Cooper S and Cooper S Coupe which goes from 0-100km/h in 7.2secs and 224km/h top speed, other Mini were SLOW.  The Cooper goes from 0-100km/h in pathetic 10.4 secs and even worse 11.1 secs for Cabrio.  Top speed 197km/h and 190km/h respectively.

Guess the Brand MINI was elevated from People's car in the 1960s to "LUXURY ICONIC FASHION STATEMENT CAR" by BMW ever since they took over this MARQUE from MG Rover in 2000.  But admittedly, they were indeed FUN to drive on road and track.
