Dunlop SP Sport J5 tyres. 10000km report

In this blog entry, I'm reviewing My Daily Ride's Tyres.  I changed 4 of these tyres back in December 30 2016 at RM142.00 per tyre including GST, Balancing, Installation and Alignment (RM127 per tyre without alignment).  This is my Report after 10,000km using the 165/60R14 75H tyres in my 2013 i10 1.25 CVVT.  These tyres are made in Continental Factory, Alor Setar.  Local tyres.
I bought from this shop Below in Shah Alam.  Overall a Satisfied experience.
Apparently, this is an Underrated tyres.  I'd say Grip and comfort level As good as Michelin XM2.  It's quieter too.  I heard not many Tyre shops Selling these tyres due to Low margin, which is sad.

It's very "Happy" on Trunk roads OR windy roads.  Also, it went through recent floods in Shah Alam with no aquaplaning, it stayed planted on the road.
Above: Fresh Week 45, 2016 tyres.  I installed at Week 52.  10,000km later, only "worrying" thing is "Burning RUBBER SMELL"  during my daily drive from Section 17, PJ to Chan Sow Lin.  And After a Multi-storey car park to Paradigm mall.  Sample 2 part Youtube videos below:

Below paragraphs are taken from Continental Sime Tyres press release:

“Travelling in the rain can be a nerve-wracking experience, so a tyre with superior wet weather traction can be a big safety benefit for drivers who need to travel at speed in wet conditions,” said national sales manager Sim Wee Chung. “Both our Dunlop new lines are 100% engineered with German technology and designed with Malaysia’s road conditions in mind.
The sportier Formula D05 features wiper blocks that increase road contact area, with the edge effect reducing the film of water between the tyre and the road edges, resulting in improved braking performance in the wet.  Please read my review on the Dunlop Formula D05 tyres back in 2015.

The tread compound has also been enhanced for better wet weather traction, while the advanced Silica Compound Technology ensures a wider operating temperature range compared to the previous Formula D01. Four wide, equally distributed longitudinal grooves accelerate water evacuation and equalise the water dispersion rate.

The more comfort oriented and fuel efficient SP Sport J5 uses a new generation of full silica compound which provides high wet weather grip and improved rolling resistance. The edge tie-bar works like a dam, dispersing water at high velocity, while an optimised number of sipes and grooves enhances water wiping while maintaining a large contact area, ensuring excellent braking performance in the wet.

The Dunlop Formula D05 is available in 28 sizes ranging from 15- to 18-inches in diameter, while the Dunlop SP Sport J5 retails in 17 sizes ranging from 12- to 15-inches in diameter. Continental Tyre Malaysia claims that together, they cover more than 90% of Malaysia’s passenger car tyre sizes.
Above, Like the Dunlop Formula D5, the J5 also feature new dry and wet weather wear indicators, the first to be available in Malaysia. The rain indicator is shallower than the sun one, letting owners know when to change their tyres for optimum wet weather performance.

Above: treadwear 340, Traction A, temperature A.

Above: This is actually A sister design to Dunlop Formula D05.  Except this caters for "Narrower AND Higher profile series/size".
Without further ado, let's Proceed to Logbook.

Apple Iphone 5, 4th year ownership review

Today's my 4th year Anniversary owning my Apple Iphone 5 16GB.  Bought my Iphone 5 white under Maxis One Club contract back in 27 December 2012.
I'm quite satisfied with the Iphone 5.  Back in 27 December 2012, I had a choice of Iphone 5 and Samsung Note 2 N7100.  Thank God I picked the Iphone 5.  As based on my cousin's experience, Samsung Note 2 can last barely 2 years.  Typically, the Mainboard, Screen, Digitizer or Battery will fail (at least 2 of the above).  Also, Note 2 Android update up to Kitkat only.  Unlike  IOS, my Iphone 5 now running Latest IOS 10.2.

Above: Chipped Glass Screen protector caused by Previous casing.  Below 2 photos.

So far it's a reliable, tough (due to Glass screen protector and Targus Hybrid casing) and user friendly companion. Just updated to IOS 10.2. A bit laggy while playing Subway Surfers. Camera quality's decent but terrible at Low light shooting.

The Drawbacks, 16GB barely enough. Thanks to Google Photos, managed to backup and Spring clean my photos. Now left 500+/- MB storage.

Battery replaced once Jan this year by Brotan (of Lowyat Forum) and OEM battery now shows sign of deteriorating.  Below, Screen shot of Typical battery life.

There's 2 annoying things about Iphone 5 and IOS.  Their Apps requires updating every DAY.  Yes, Everyday there's AT LEAST 1-5 apps needs updating.

There's 1 particular Annoying App that Required updates every 3-5 days.  A WHOOPING 30 updates in 6 months.  It's no other than Airbnb.  Each update 100+ MB.  Very Bad for my 16GB Iphone 5.  Latest update's version 16,49.2 (Yes, 50 updates).

Another annoyance's the Storage.  I had myself to blame by picking 16GB version.

Overall rating 9/10. Highly recommended. But get AT LEAST 64GB.

That's all folks, thanks for having the time and patience to read this blog entry.  An original Jefferson Lim's production.  Copy like a man, please acknowledge my work.  Don't plagiarize.

Dunlop Formula D05 review Vol.3

In this blog entry, I'm writing a report after using the Dunlop Formula D05 for 6 months.  This Dunlop Formula D05 is the latest thread (flower in Manglish term) design freshly launched early March.  The threadwear is 340, Temperature A, Traction A, Made in Malaysia.  I got fresh tyres Manufactured week 1015.

Please check out my previous updates:

2) http://otoreview.blogspot.my/2015/06/dunlop-formula-d05-review-vol2.html

SIX months have passed since I bought the tyres.  I am very happy with the tyres.  It's ALL ROUNDER all Weather tyres.  I took the Waja to a long distance trip on 5 September 2015.  It's From PJ to Seremban town overnight, then proceeded to Shorea Resort at Berembun, Dusun, Negri Sembilan using part NKVE part trunk roads.

Enjoy the photos:

The tyres took the challenge, gave me a comfortable ride over all terrains.  I'm also happy with the low tyre noise, it's very quiet in most terrains compared to my previous tyres Pirelli P6.

Also, it went through recent floods in Setia Alam with no aquaplaning, it stayed planted on the road.

Here's Singapore's review on this tyres:

Without further ado, let's proceed to logbook...

Mileage at tyre installation: 176,747km - 27 March 2015

Mileage today:

Mileage covered: 4,364km only.

FUEL CONSUMPTION Last 60 days:

BEST: 9.85km/l
WORST: 7.8km/l
Average: 9km/l.

An improvement compared to last update:

BEST: 9.35km/l
WORST: 5.93km/l
Average: 7.6km/l.

Note the difference.  Besides the tyres, I just serviced the car with Semi-synthetic, changed new Air filter, NGK Spark plugs, 4x BOSCH brake pads.

My rating so far: 8.5/10.  I shall review this tyres again in 3 months time...  See you in 28 December 2015.
