Porsche Centre opens in KL

Porsche Centre opens in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur welcomed its first Porsche Centre in the shopping district of Bukit Bintang over the weekend.

The opening of the outlet was marked by the launch of the 911 Carrera GTS. It is the second centre after the one in Glenmarie, Shah Alam, under current Porsche franchise holder Sime Darby Auto Performance.

The showroom, just down the road from the JW Marriott hotel and the Pavilion shopping centre, comprises 545 square metres of floor space for new cars on the ground floor and 456 square metres for used cars on the upper floor.
The spanking new Porsche Centre in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, has separate levels for new cars and used aka pre-owned cars.

Sime Darby Auto Performance has also started its used Porsche car operation in the country with trade-in programmes for customers to make their purchase of the next Porsche more convenient.

All pre-owned Porsche cars sold pass rigorous quality control checks, some of which include the stringent 111-point check. Any faults found during this check require rectification before the cars can qualify for a two-year Porsche Pre-Owned Car Warranty.

The centre will include an aftersales diagnostic centre, to be opened within three months, which will offer diagnostic and detailing services.

The 911 Carrera GTS is a natural crowd puller.

The Porsche Club Malaysia has also been allocated some office space  and facilities in the Porsche Centre for them to hold functions and events.

According to Sime Darby Auto Performance chief executive officer Arnt Bayer, a Porche Centre will be set up in Penang within two to three years, to be followed by another one in Johor Baru. It is also looking at Sabah and Sarawak as potential markets at a later stage.

Some new models to be introduced in the coming weeks and months are the Boxster S Black Edition, the Cayman R and Panamera S Hybrid.

The RM900,000 Carrera GTS showcased at the Porsche Centre Bukit Bintang has a 3.8-litre engine producing 408hp and 420Nm of torque.

The increased output is not at the expense of fuel consumption, as Porsche claims it consumes about the same mount of fuel as the Carrera S.

The Carrera GTS has a six-speed manual transmission, and a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) is optional.

In comparison with the Carrera S, top speed of the model with manual transmission rises by four km/h to 306 km/h. In general, acceleration from zero to 100 km/h improves by 0.1 seconds, and is 4.2 seconds for a GTS Coupé with PDK and a Sport Chrono Package Plus in Sport Plus mode.

Sime Darby took over the Porsche franchise from Datuk Mokhzani Mahathir's Jaseri Automotive Group Sdn Bhd in April last year.

Close-up: My Dream Car, Porsche 997 Turbo

In this blog entry, I'm going to present a "Close-up" of my Dream Car: The Porsche 997 Turbo.  This 2007 Unregistered Showroom Unit is EXACTLY what I dreamed.  Ideal Colour Combination (Metallic Lapis Blue + Dark Beige Leather) + ALMOST FULL SPEC (only thing missing is Carbon Ceramics Brakes).  The Mileage: 28,000 kilometres.  The PRICE:  RM680,000.

HIGHLIGHTS of the Porsche 911 997 3.6 Turbo:

1) Top speed of 193mph (310km/h)
2) Acceleration in 3.7 secs to 100km/h (62mph) for the Tiptronic. 0-160km/h (100mph) in 9 secs FLAT. 0-200km/h (125km/h) in 11 seconds!!! 60-100km/h (2nd gear) in 1.1 SECONDS!!!
3) While taking the normal 1.0 bar of peak boost to 1.2 bar does not affect the 480bhp that arrives at 6,000rpm, it does add another 60Nm (44 ft-lb) to the already beefy torque curve, resulting in a massive 680Nm (502 ft-lb) on tap between 2,100 and 4,000rpm.

4) Variable ratio power steering
5) 8 speakers BOSE Andio System with Aux Out, CD Changer.
6) Electronic 12 way adjustable with 2 memory LEATHER Seats + Split/fold rear seats.
7) Climate Control
8) The tyres are 235/35ZR19 front and 305/30ZR19 rear on lightweight 8.5J and 11J x 19-inch alloys.

9) Permanant 4-wheel-drive, Flat-6, Twin-scroll turbocharged + VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry) + Overboost (adds 60Nm of torque)
10) 6 Airbags.
11) PSM (Porsche Stability Management) + PTM (Porsche Traction management) + PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management)
12) Electric Sunroof
13) Sports Chrono Package (on the Showroom car)
14) Bi-Xenon Auto Headlights + Cornering feature
15) "0" Blind spot.  Everyday Supercar.
16) Still managed a Respectable 20mpg averaged.

There's a saying a picture's worth 1000 words. Without further ado, let's proceed to Photo gallery:

Above: This showroom unit covered 28000 kilometres only.  Below: ROOF RACK "Slot" Mounting.

Last 4 Photos, I rotated in MSPAINT already.  But when Upload, STILL revert back to Original Form.  I don't understand why...

CONCLUSION:  There are reasons why this is my Dream Car.  Unlike Ferrari and Lamborghini where mileage need to be AS LOW AS POSSIBLE to preserve its value + struggle in City driving, this is an EVERYDAY SUPERCAR.  It's the MOST PRACTICAL Supercar with Double "Boot" (1 in Bonnet and the other behind the front seats - OR fits average size kids under 8 years old).  According to Fifth Gear UK, This car's EASY TO DRIVE AS WELL.  This makes it an ALL-ROUNDER.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SUPERCAR (if you have the money).

SADLY, NO TEST DRIVE.  RM20,000 deposit required before you can test drive.

If you want to buy this car, Call Jimmy (below),

the Sales Manager of "Tenaga Wan Bersaudara Sdn. Bhd".  Mentioned Referred by Jeff Lim from Chester. Located at Taman Tun Dr Ismail.  His no: 012-407-3777.  A Professional (Friendly, Helpful and Patient) Sales Manager.

THE END.

That's all folks, thanks for the time and patience to read this blog entry.  An Original Jeff Lim's Production.  My Original Work.

VIDEOS++ Reviews: Porsche 993 Turbo

Videos+Specifications+Owner's Reviews: Porsche 911 993 Turbo.

In this blog entry, I'm reviewing my one of my 2 ULTIMATE DREAM CARS (the other being the McLaren F1), the Porsche 993 Turbo.

This 993 Turbo's the last of the air cooled 911's, it offers twin scroll turbocharged, 4-wheel drive, a computer controlled differential (passed on from the 959) and rock solid reliability which makes this an everyday supercar.
Is this the world's best all round usable supercar? The new 996 Turbo and subsequently 997 Turbo may have taken that crown but to many, this is the Best 911.

In Malaysia, I only managed to spot 1 unit of 993 Turbo for sale over the last 4 months.  It's a 1995 black unit UK Import with Service Record.  Asking RM380,000.
As usual, I don't have a car to test and brag about.  All is not lost, I dished out 5 Videos review and 1 Specification.
