Happy10th Anniversary Otoreview.my!!!

Happy 10th Birthday Otoreview.blogspot.my

I Jeff Lim, owner and editor of this blog would like to thank all Readers/Subscribers for your support.  This blog turned 10 years old on 21 August 2016.  How time flies...  It seemed like yesterday I created this blog.  I created this blog on 21 August 2006.   This blog started off initially as a Malaysian Used car review blog.
My priceless 1st post back in 21 Aug 2006:
http://otoreview.blogspot.my/2006/08/full-review-ford-laser-tx3-b8.html

As time goes by, it slowly incorperates "Automotive Industry stuff", New car review, Highlighted Roadshows, Antique/Classic cars, Gadgets review, Product reviews, A little bit of Politics (NAP, AFTA, AP issues, Racism, Sexism), Best/worst resale values and lastly Advertorial (for Honda Malaysia and Nuffnang).

I, Jeff Lim shall keep this blog running hoping that there's Advertisers/Sponsors and "ASSISTANT EDITOR/S" as I have to admit it's DIFFICULT updating this blog ALONE.  I SHALL GIVE my assistant editors FULL POWER to post and edit (your own post) what he/she deemed fit.  BUT PLEASE Don't delete/edit my post.

I START FROM "0" back in 2006.  Hoping to be spotted/hired as a Car Writer/Journalists.  But I'm only an A-level holder.  I improved my English because I collect car magazines and been reading car magazines since I was 10 years old (1989).  My role model are "Shahriza Hussien", "LeePS", "Chips Yap", "Faisal Shah" and "Chris Wee".  I already built up my portfolio 1/3 of this blog were "Original Jeff Lim's production".

UPDATE: 25/8/16:  This blog just passed 2,000,000th Visitors...  I know it's CRAP for a 10 years blog but I'm contented with average 600-1000 visitors daily consistantly.

Thanks for your support...

Again, thanks everyone for your support...  Here's to the NEXT 10 years!

Myvi 10th Anniversary Celebrations

Last weekend, Perodua Hosted a MEGA Event at Setia Eco Park to commemorates Myvi's 10th birthday Celebrations.  These includes launching of MYVI Gear-up Accessories, Myvi 10th anniversary special edition (more on this later) and Malaysia Book of  Records Attempt (also to cover later).  Yours truly was there in both days.

The Perodua Myvi was launched 10 years ago.  Since then, it's been an astounding success.  The Myvi overtook Proton Wira in 2006 as Malaysia's best selling car.  For eight years in a row, the Myvi maintained the No.1 best selling passenger car title.  Over 850,000 units sold over 10 years.

Let's take a trip down the memory lane with these video and photos: (please double click to enlarge)

On 25 May 2005, the Iconic Myvi was launched in Malaysia.  Designed with passion and commitment for Malaysians, it served the needs of many people.  34,038 units were sold at the 1st year of launch.
In 2007, the Myvi SE were introduced.  Total cumulative sales stood at 199,071 units.  On a personal note, My sister bought a Silver MYVI 1.3SXI which served her reliably for 5 years.
In 2009, Perodua Myvi received a mild facelift and bolder SE variant.  By end of 2009, culmulative sales 377,891 units.
In 2011, Perodua launched the 2nd generation Myvi.  The Tagline "Lagi Best" and later Lagi Power Lagi Best (for 1.5SE) introduced.  On a personal note, My dad bought 1 1.5SE "Lagi Power lagi best", which passed to my sister 1 year later (she sold off her 1.3SXi for RM28,000.  A great resale value after 5 years ownership).  The only minor defect in her 1.3SXI was the 12v socket failed.  Sales figures for year ended 2011 was 537,452 units.
The Malaysian Icon was made better this year with Electric Power steering, Anti-snatch handbag hook, Redesigned cupholders and rims at lower price.

The record was broken during Perodua’s Myvi Gathering event today with participants from the Klang Valley as well as other states in West Malaysia converged to celebrate the Myvi 10 Anniversary here.

This historic event is part of the “Myvi 10niversay” campaign in celebrating the 10th anniversary of its best-selling model, which sold over 840,000 units since it was launched on 25th May 2005.

“We are very happy to celebrate this very important milestone with our loyal customers and we will be giving one lucky participant a 10th Anniversary Commemorative Edition Myvi as a big thank you,” Perodua President & CEO Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said.

The official announcement of the number of Myvi gathered was done by The Malaysian Book of Records’ official representative Mr Siva Sorianarayanan and was witnessed by YB Dato’ Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Member of Parliament of Tanah Merah.

Also during the event, Datuk Aminar drew the name of the lucky contestant En Syed Mohamad Izzuddin Syed Ahmad Termizi from Perak who won the limited edition commemorative Myvi.
“Another surprise is that we are also introducing the Myvi GearUp accessories packages to our customers ranging from RM2,900 and RM3,300 depending on specifications,” Aminar said.
“For those interested, we encourage you to visit our sales and service outlets to find out more,” he added.
The Myvi Gathering event drew approximately 5,000 Myvi owners, drivers and their families to enjoy a full day fun filled activity at Setia Alam.

PARTING SHOT: Congratulations to Perodua for your Myvi Success.  840,000 units sold in 10 years were no fluke.  I, Jefferson Lim wish Perodua meet your Target of 1 million cars sold by June 2017.
