Longtermer #2, Vol 25: (44th month): Honda Civic FD2 2.0IVTEC

In this blog entry, I'm updating my family's ride.  It's the Honda Civic FD2 2.0 IVTEC.  This is the 44th   month we owned the Civic.

First item I'd like to highlight's the Fuel Consumption improved over last update but only slightly.  The fill up recorded an average of 8.9km/l (or 23 cents).  Last fill up 33L good for 315km only. Though it's 80% city and 20% highway.

Secondly, this car was "neglected" since my dad took delivery of the New Myvi 1.5SE+ Auto.  My dad drove the New MYVI Hard and seldom drive this car.  A mere 2761 km were covered in the period of 4 months.  Something unusual as my dad used to cover 1500km monthly. This car SELDOM sees Genting, Ipoh, Cyberjaya and LCCT drive.  These routes were now covered by the New MYVI 1.5SE.  This car's now covering 80% city driving and 20% highway driving.

Lastly, last week I scratched the Civic at Wisma Genting Basement parking lot.  Supposedly right angle approaching the ramp, I reversed a bit and scratched the rear left door (photo below)

Without further ado, let's proceed to LOG BOOK:

Mileage upon delivery: 0008km
Mileage last update: 59,865km

Mileage now: 62,626km
Average mileage per month: 1423km
Purchase price: RM126,000 (less NCB)
Current value: RM93,000.
3 years depreciation: 77% retained value
Interest rate: 2.35% (back in July 2008) for 6 years loan.

FUEL CONSUMPTION (Nov 1 to Feb 29):

Best: 13.1km/L (RM0.18/km) 80% highway/20% city, Esso RON95. (1st week of January)
WORST: 8km/L (RM0.24/km) (Shell RON95) 80% City/20% Highway driving driven by ME. (Feb 16)

ALL TIME:

Best: 15.35km/l (90% highway driving) (20 August 2010)
Worst: 7.1km/l (80% City driving, 20% HARD DRIVING) (October 27)

PERFORMANCE:
0-100km/h: 9.2 seconds normal acceleration (9 seconds with paddle-shift)
Top speed: Max I driven is 190km/h but I know it can go up to 227km/h. Someone from Youtube tried it.

That's all...  Well there's a saying a picture's worth 1000 words...  Here are some photos:

Today, February 29 is a special day, like Olympics, It occurs once in 4 years.  Persons born or wedding today save lots of money as they celebrate ONCE in 4 years only.  Also, you will be super young.  Eg. you celebrate your 10th birthday but you are actually 40 years old.  How cool is that?

CLOSE UP: NEW Kia Optima and Koup

In this blog entry, I'm posting a Close Up of New Kia Optima and Kia Koup (photo below)

I visited their new Kia Red Cube along Federal Highway.

Among the 2 Newly launched Kias, my vote goes to the new Kia Optima.

ENGINE/Gearbox/Dimension/Safety

The new Kia Optima had the same engine (165hp@6200rpm and 198Nm@4600rpm) and 6 speed automatic gearbox as Hyundai Sonata 2.0.  But their similarities ends here.  Kia comes with more sporty Suspension, 225/45R18 wheels and 18" Polished alloy wheel and MEGA Specs that would shamed NOT ONLY the Sonata 2.0 High-spec but the big selling Honda Accord and Toyota Camry as well...  It's LONG 2795mm wheelbase and 4845mm length and 1830mm width means it's a SERIOUS D-segment contender.

Safety wise, this Optima came with 6 airbags, ABS/EBD/CBC/BAS/TCS and HAC (Hill-start Assist Control), ISOFIX Child seat mount,  Auto Levelling HID Xenon with LED DRL (1st seen in Audi A4). Power tilt/slide Panoramic Glass Sunroof (like the Sonata Hi-spec). It also have Rear reverse camera (like Forte 2.0).

INTERIOR/COLORS/PRICE::

The Tilt and Telescopic Adjustable steering consists of: Paddle shifters, Autocruise, Bluetooth Handsfree control and Audio control.  It also came with Leather seats, ISOFIX Mount and 60:40 split fold rear seats.

The 437L boot space is BIG but Shallow due to the accommodation of "FULL SIZE" 18" spare tyre underneath.

The earlier mentioned Panoramic Glass Sunroof (below) really brightens the Grey Leather Interior.

In the ICE Department, the Optima is fitted with 8 speakers+Subwoofer "Infinity Sound system" with 6-CD In Dash Changer control which reads MP3/WMA that supports AUX, IPod and USB Connections.  Other electronics: Elec 8 way adjustable Driver and passanger seats with 2 way memory for Driver, Dual Zone Full Auto Air Cond with rear air-cond vents, Engine start/stop button with smart key, Elec folding side mirrors.

The Optima came in 3 colors only, namely "Snow White Pearl", Bright Silver Metallic and Platinum Graphite Metallic.  The biggest SHOCK of all...  For all the above goodies...  The asking price: RM143,888 OTR Only.  It comes with 5 years Warranty/ unlimited mileage.

As for the Forte Koup, I'm making it a "Photo Essay", enjoy the photos below...

Well there's a saying a picture's worth 1000 words, here are the photos:
