CLOSE UP: Peugeot 408 2.0 and 1.6THP

In this blog entry, I'm posting a close up of Peugeot 408 2.0 and 408 Turbo.  Both 408s' launched on 21 May 2012 (3 days ago).  I checked out the Peugeots yesterday at NASIM TTDI by invitation by my friend Jerry Yow (more on him later).

Common features were Dual Zone Auto Air-cond with rear air cond vents, 4 discs brakes with ABS+EBD+BA, World in Peugeot sound with MP3, CD, USB, bluetooth and 6 speakers, Automatic headlights and wipers, Cruise control with speed limiter, Front and rear foglights, Automatic folding side mirrors and 5 years warranty with unlimited mileage.

The differences between the 2 besides the engine were Different design Alloy rims (8 spoke polished "Melbourne" for 1.6THP and 5 spoke "Rinjani" for 2.0, 6 airbags instead of 2, Additional of ASR and ESP over the 2.0, Leather seats, aluminium pedals and white dash meter.  Softer suspension and higher profile tyres (215/50R17) for the 2.0 vs Sports suspension for the 1.6 Turbo and lower profile tyres (225/45R17).  Electric power steering for the 1.6THP and Hydraulic Power steering for the 2.0.

The Peugeot 408 2.0's introduced to cater for Company/Corporate clients.  It's priced RM110,000 OTR.  This car's more basic compared to 408 Turbo.  The 408 2.0's a powered by a regular 2.0 VVT 16v DOHC engine which produced 145hp@6000rpm and torque 200Nm@4000rpm mated with 4 speed tiptronic.  This figure's closest to Nissan Sylphy.  Performance wise, Maximum speed 195km/h ECU limited and 0-100km/h in 12.5 secs and combined fuel consumption of 8.6l/100km.

The 408 1.6 Turbo's priced at RM126,000 OTR.  It's powered by i4 DOHC 16v VVT, Twin Scroll Turbo High Pressure (THP) with Direct Petrol Injection which ECU tuned to produce 7hp more than 308 Turbo => 163hp@6000rpm and torque of 240Nm@1400rpm.  At the moment, this is the MOST POWERFUL C-segment car on paper and based on claimed performance.  Maximum speed 215km/h ECU limited and 0-100km/h in 9.2 secs only.  Combined fuel consumption: 8.2l/100km.

Colour choices similar for both cars.  Alpine white, Velvet silver, Metropolis bronze, Aster grey, Dark blue and Premium black.

Well, there's a saying a picture's worth 1000 words, here are the photos:

If you want to buy this car, I recommend you head to Nasim TTDI Branch.  Most of their salesmen/women were friendly and know their job but 1 of them's OUTSTANDING from the rest.  Why?
It's for his patience, sincerity and overall professionalism.  He's no other than Mr. Jerry Yow, 012-331-6039.  Highly Recommended salesperson.  Do mention that you were recommended by Mr. Jeff Lim for better deals.

That's all folks, thanks for having the time and patience to read this blog entry.  An original Jeff Lim's production.  Not to be copied elsewhere.

Hi otoreview. Thanks for the review as the 408 looks beautiful. However, is the fuel consumption correct at 8.6L/ 100km? Looks a bit high.
