CLOSE UP: Honda Odyssey EX-V Earth Dreams

In this blog entry, I'm posting a close encounter with New Honda Odyssey EX-V high spec. This Front wheel drive baby is powered with Same 2.4 DOHC I-VTEC Earth Dreams engine as Accord 2.4 producing 175ps and 225Nm or torque but mated with CVT gearbox instead.
We were denied access to the REAL "Earth Dreams" engine with DIRECT-INJECTION because that engine's designed to run on EURO-V.  Our fuel quality is too DIRTY for this engine.

The all-new Odyssey features sliding rear doors for the 1st time.  Along with a Completely new platform. More on this later...

The distinctive exterior styling of the all-new Odyssey reflects its status as a premium minivan, and its interior design creates a refined, modern, quiet environment for all occupants.

In the second row, premium 2nd row cradle seats surround occupants in luxurious comfort, while the large sliding doors and steps approximately 30 cm high make it easy to enter and exit the vehicle.

New ultra-low-floor platform delivering balanced combination of roomy interior and exceptional driving performance

In the all-new Odyssey, Honda's proprietary packaging technologies have evolved even further. In addition to sliding rear doors, the model features a newly developed ultra-low-floor platform, in which the ceiling is higher and the floor lower than in the previous model. The first benefit of this platform is an interior that is even roomier than that of the previous model.
Thanks to a low center of gravity and redesigned suspension, the platform also delivers the nimble and stable handling that has made each generation of Odyssey so popular, as well as an exceptionally smooth ride and enjoyable driving performance.

There are 2 variants brought in by Honda Malaysia.  Priced to sell at RM228,000 for EX and 248,000 for EX-V.
Both variants of the Odyssey comes with dual powered sliding doors, rear air conditioning, manually operated premium 2nd row captain seat, a seven-inch unique display audio system with six speakers, six airbags,VSA - "vehicle stability assist", ABS+electronic brake distribution+brake assist.
In addition, there's LED daytime running lights, and ISOFIX points for the rear seats.

The higher-end EX-V variant, mirrors the Japanese model's "Absolute" trim. This trim specification comes extra with Automatic LED headlights with Cornering lights, Triple-zone automated Plasmacluster climate control, multi-view camera system with multi-angle rearview camera, blind spot information with cross traffic monitor, smart parking assist system with automated side and reverse parking, an Electric tilt-slide glass sunroof, and leather trims.

Despite announced in KL International Motorshow, this SEXY MPV's not available for display in Many Honda Showrooms.  I took these close-up photos in Puspakom Taman Bukit Maluri where 6 units lined up for Inspection.

ALL 6 units are Odyssey EX-V high spec.  In White, Glamorous Mave Pearl (Purplish) and Black.

VERDICT: 9.5/10!!!  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!  MILES BETTER than Estima/Previa~!

Well, there's a saying a picture's worth 1000 words.  Enjoy the photos.

CLOSE UP: Ford Fiesta 1.0 ECOBOOST.

In this blog entry, I'm posting a Close up of the Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost.  This is CBU Thailand and despite 3 cyl 1000cc, it generates 125ps and 170Nm or torque, thanks to direct injection, Variable-valve timing and Turbo.  Note that this engine, awarded "International Engine of The Year" in 2012 AND 2013!  It's priced at RM93,888 OTR without insurance.

Sadly, only Hatchback is available and is paired with 6 speed Dual-clutch Powershift gearbox. Claimed fuel consumption is 5.3l/100km and claimed 0-100km/h is 9.7 secs and 190km/h top speed.

Unfortunately, Ford Distributor SDAC decided to deck the Car with Hideous bodykits and "Loud" stickers.  All is NOT LOST, despite priced RM14,000 more than the 1.5 Sport and Titanium, this baby have the following EXTRAS:

- 13ps and 30Nm torque more than 1.5, thanks to the Direct injection, Turbo.
- 7 airbags vs 2.
- LED Day running lights
- Hideous Bodykits
- "Ecoboost" Stickers everywhere.
- 5.3l/100km down from 6.9l/100km average fuel consumption.

Colour choices:  Limited to White, Red and Black only.  Sad right?

I didn't manage to test drive the baby due to Rain and the fact that they are closing when I reached there at 6pm.

Verdict: 8.5/10.

Well, all is not lost, there's a saying a picture's worth 1000 words, enjoy the photos:

Above and below, decent Head and legroom.
