KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 31 — The price of RON97 petrol will be increased by 10 sen to RM2.50 effective midnight, according to industry sources.

The price of the premium fuel was last raised on January 4, also by 10 sen.

The government announced on July 16 last year that the price of RON97 will be subjected to a managed float to reflect the price of oil on the global market.

The latest increase will, however, not affect other fuels.

The base grade RON95 petrol remains at RM1.90 per litre, diesel at RM1.80 per litre, and LPG at RM1.90 per kg. The government currently subsidises 30 sen of the RON 95 fuel cost.

The Najib administration has opted to gradually slash subsidies as a way to reduce government deficit.

The government’s Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) had said last year that savings from fuel subsidy cuts amounted to about RM3 billion last year. This number will rise to RM14 billion this year, RM21 billion in 2012, RM29.5 billion in 2013, and RM35 billion in 2014.

Longtermer #2, Vol 21: Month 31: Honda Civic FD2 2.0IVTEC

Longtermer #2, Vol 21: Month 31: Honda Civic FD2 2.0IVTEC

In this blog entry, I'm updating my Family's ride.  The Honda Civic 2.0IVTEC FD2.  This is the 36st month we owned the Civic.  What's up from February 1 to June 30?  Let's see:

My dad drove the Civic HARD.  Every month at LEAST 2 trips to Genting Highlands and few trips to Cyberjaya and KLIA.  He also went to Penang Once, IPOH twice with the Civic FD2.  He's based in Vietnam, but he drove out the car WHOLE DAY whenever he's back.  Where he goes other than the above was a mystery to me.

In May, this Civic was borrowed to use as a wedding car for my sister's friend Amy and Siong Liet.  Here are some photos:

I sent to Honda Service TWICE since my last update.  Once for 45,000km service and another for 50122km service.  Among the things serviced were Fuel filter, Air-cond filter, Air cond service, Fixed the broken centre console (@50,000km).  Wiper blades BOSCH 26/24 (bought at Jusco for RM26.25 after "discount"), and alignment/balancing I did outside.  My dad also changed 2 more Michelin PS3 in May 2011.  This round he bought at RM475 per tyre from the same shop, Hin Leong (last year he bought RM420 only).

Late May: I got stuck in a jam from Wisma Genting heading towards my house in Section 17, PJ.  Sort of a Record: 1hr 50 mins.  The irony is it's mere 15km ride...

Without further ado, let's proceed to LOGBOOK.

International award for Nasim

International award for Nasim

It says a lot about a distributor whenever recognition is made of its efforts by a principal which deals with many other distributors globally. In the case of Nasim Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of the Peugeot brand in Malaysia, the recognition of its strong efforts in growing the popularity of the French cars has come in the form of an International Award from Automobiles Peugeot.
At the Peugeot 2011 Convention for Worldwide Distributors in Spain recently, Nasim was presented with the Successful Industrialization and Commercial Launch of the 207 Award
“This award from Peugeot is recognition of our efforts in manufacturing the 207 in Malaysia for right-hand drive markets in the region. At present, we have had over 600 bookings for the new 207 and it is currently the most attainable European offering in the market,” said SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman of the Naza Group of Companies and CEO of Nasim, who received the award.
The 207 is produced at Naza Automotive Manufacturing Sdn Bhd’s plant in Gurun, Kedah, for both the domestic and export markets. It was launched in November 2010 and is already being exported to Thailand. Exports to Indonesia, Brunei and Sri Lanka will commence in the first quarter of 2011. The 207 project is the first one in which Peugeot is collaborating with Nasim to make Malaysia the French carmaker’s manufacturing hub for the region.

CLOSE UP: Peugeot 308 Turbo...

In this blog entry, I'm posting lots and lots of photos of the New Peugeot 308 Turbo which I checked out this afternoon.  The NEW Peugeot 308 Turbo's facelifted just in time for the KL International Motor Show back in November last year.  The Final OTR Price for Peninsular Malaysia are as followed:

Braking department:  Front Ventilated discs and rear solid discs, ABS + EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) + EBA (Emergency Brake Assist) + Traction Control + DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) = Electronic Stability Program (ESP).  While the steering type's Elecro-hydraulic variable power steering.

The car comes with 17" 5 spoke alloy rims + "225/45R17" Continental Conti-sport 3 tyres.

Entertainment on the go comes standard with RDS Radio/MP3/CD player with 6 speakers, USB, AUX input and Bluetooth Connectivity.  In the comfort department, there's Dual Zone Automatic Air-conditioning for both front and rear passengers.

Safety-wise, it's loaded with 6 airbags (the passenger Airbag has "ON/OFF" Switch), cruise control with a speed limiter function and Electronic Stability Program for a secure drive. In addition, this car also equipped with 2x ISOFIX anchor point for child seats, 3 point rear seat  belts. How fast and how fuel efficient?

PERFORMANCE and ECONOMY:

Top speed: 212km/h
0-100km/h in 9.1 secs
Combined cycle: 7.6l/100km
Fuel tank: 60l

Unfortunately, I don't get to test drive though test drive's available (I forgotten to bring my IC and driving license) when I visited the TTDI Showroom.

There's a saying a picture's worth 1000 words.  Here are the pictures:

Mr YAP and his son, Aik Meng.  I was there when they took delivery of the White 308 Turbo.  They were kind enough to let me sit on their car.  Hopefully, I can meet up with them again after Chinese New Year to test drive their car.

ANY RECOMMENDED SALESMAN?

I went to NASIM TTDI Plaza Showroom.  Apparently ALL THEIR SALES EXECUTIVE were GOOD.  ONE Particular sales executive's a STANDOUT.  He Delivered 3 Peugeot 308 Turbo to new owners in a ROW.  Very busy man.  So busy that he "IGNORED ME" after ALL the deliveries. VERY GOOD BUT NO CIGAR form ME.

PARTING WORDS:  I LOVED THIS CAR.  It's ALMOST PERFECT.  FULLY LOADED.  Highly recommended.  Though if I have the money, it's either FORD FOCUS TDCI (RM126,888 after NCB discount) or THIS CAR (RM118,888.00).  Decisions decisions...
