Toyota Camry HYBRID Arrives At RM174,900

UMW Toyota Motor has projected to sell close to 9,000 units of the New Camry this year with the introduction of the New Camry hybrid to add on its model line-up. From the 9,000 units, it is expected that 7,000 of the hybrid variant would be sold.

In his speech, Datuk Ismet Suki said Toyota Camry has come a long way since it was first launched in 1994. “Now with a total sales of more than 116,000 units, we are proud to continue this flagship model and the New Camry will now come stronger with a much more dynamic design and technological advances.” he said.

Also present at the launch were Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin, Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor, Mr. Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor, Mr. Toshihiro Nakaho, Deputy Chief Engineer, Toyota Motor Corporation and Datuk Syed Hisham Syed Wazir, President and Group CEO of UMW Holdings Bhd.

“The new 2.5-litre Hybrid, 2.0-litre G and E Camry will definitely appeal to those who desire sporty and dynamic looks as well as luxury comfort.  There have been major exterior and interior design changes in making this New Camry to be seamlessly high-tech and vibrant. We call it “Keen Look Identity and Under Priority” design philosophy,” he added.

The Camry Hybrid model comes with impressive new safety features such as 7-airbags, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert system which is useful when reversing out of a parking space, as well as Nano-e TM purifier, an air cleaning system that purifies the air with negative ions. It also offers first in its class wireless charger for users to just drop and charge their compatible smart phones.

Besides all the technological advances, Datuk Ismet explained that the Camry Hybrid also surpasses expectations when it comes to performance. The New Camry Hybrid comes with over 200 horsepower, and excellent fuel economy.

Apart from this, he said, the Hill Start Assist, which is available in the Hybrid and G variants, has the capability of preventing the vehicle from rolling backwards when starting on a slope while ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution and airbag systems are offered to all variants.

As for the new Toyota Camry 2.0-litre G and E variants, these now equipped with 6-speed auto transmission and a top-class powerful brand new petrol engine that churns out 167ps which includes a new Variable Valve Timing – Intelligent Wide system that allows engine to run on both conventional and Atkinson cycle. The New Toyota Camry 2.0-litre G and E variants aimed to achieve high power output, best fuel economy and low emissions.

Apart from that, the new Camry has integrated LED Daytime Running Lights and dual exhaust system which brings the Camry up to par or even exceeds the standards set by competitors.

“The New Camry is priced from RM149,900 – RM174,900. In addition, I am pleased to announce that, in terms of warranty, we will be offering 8 years assurance program on the hybrid battery. We believe this would take away any doubts from customers who may be first time owners of a hybrid vehicle.
